Sony CMD CD5 is powered by Li-ion 500 mAh standard battery, which has capacity to work up to 150 hours in standby mode and talk time up to 5 hours. The phone has monochrome graphic display with blue backlight and offers 30 monophonic but sweet ring tones. You can also assign ring tones to phonebook entries. To control volume and operate other menu options there is a separate jog dial. To dial a number numeric keypad is available.

Unlike single-band in other phones CD5 supports dual-band GSM 900/GSM 1800. The phone does not provide advance features, just comes with common features such as; Short Messages Service, Alarm, Clock, call records and phonebook. The phone is available in three stunning colors, Silver, Metallic Blue and Metallic Black.
