Key features and review of the Haier P5

With unusual design and features the Haier P5 are capable to attract any one. The phone is looks like a pen. This unique handset is just 27mm in width, 25-30 percent less than a typical phone. It's also significantly longer than usual, measuring about 130mm in length. It is also light in weight, at 66g, its one of the lightest phone we have reviewed.

Although the Haier P5 looks like a crumb plasticky, but its build quality is excellent. The silver-black color combo is simple but safe. The screen resolution is 64 x 102 pixels.

The pen phone display is to be read with the device handled horizontally. The slanted keys, however, have to be used vertically, this always create confusion that how to use, upright or across. The main problem occurs when typing SMS messages. The buttons of the phone is responsive, this is not an issue, what gives the trouble is that we need to input text with the keypad upright, but we can view the message only horizontally. Eventually we had to settle for using the P5 at an angle of 45 degrees, an imperfect compromise that gave us a slight distaste in SMS text.

Haier P5 has built-in laser pointer, which is ideal during meetings. It has built-in screensavers, 20 Polyphonic ring tones, Vibration alert and T9. The P5 is also capable of taking up to 15 minutes of voice notes. There are even three games available on the phone, including the evergreen Tetris.

Its menu system resembles that of a Nokia phone, but its buttons are less than intuitive. For instance, on some other phones, pressing the "right" key brings the user deeper into the menu, while "left" moves the user out. The P5 has it the opposite. The Haier P5 is powered by a Li-Ion 520 mAh battery that has the capacity to work up to 150 hours in standby mode and 4 hours 30 min in talk time mode.
