Key features and review of the Eten P700

Eten P700 is new PC phone from the Eten with great features. Measuring 78 x 131 x 21 mm and weighs 200g along with approx 10mm antenna on top left hand side it looks stunning. Like other PDA it is also equipped with a large 3.5" TFT 65K colors touch screen. Below the main screen you can find a four-way navigation button to control various features of the phone. On the left, a Start Call button that brings up the dialer screen and, on the right, an End call button. Beneath these on left and right are the speaker and microphone respectively.

The left-hand side houses a headset jack, infrared port, reset button, scroll/select/volume adjust wheel, and a small button that activates voice recording. The latter is difficult to press by accident, overcoming a common problem with Windows Mobile hardware. The battery is removable and your SIM lies beneath it in a well-protected area.

The Eten P700 supports Tri-band GSM 900/ GSM 1800/ GSM 1900 as well as GPRS for better network connectivity while Bluetooth takes care of local wireless connectivity. There's no built-in Wi-Fi. The phone runs Windows Mobile 2003 software for Pocket PC Phone Edition and it comes with bundled package. It is powered by a 400MHz Intel PXA255 processor, which is sufficient for its job. P700 comes with 64MB of Flash memory and 64Mb of SDRAM. There is a type I CompactFlash card slot at the top of the device, which is protected when not in use by a sliding cover. It has also an SD card slot.

Apart from these advance features Eten P700 also comes with various additional and useful features that includes; Polyphonic ring tones, Vibration alert, Call records, Phonebook, Infrared and USB support, SMS, MMS, EMail, Games, Pocket office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Organizer, T9, Voice memo and Built-in hands free .

We found the Eten P700 to be an adequate performer while it lacked some outstanding features, the screen lacks the brightness of some of its competition and also lacks camera.

On the whole the E-Ten P700 is a fair performer, if a little large for the pocket and lacking in any outstanding features. It is supplied with a protective case, which is nice, but lacks an adapter to allow charging without the cradle.
