Key features and review of the Eten G500

Eten G500 is a compact and smart mobile phone introduced by Eten in 2006 based on sliding mechanism. This is a nice phone with almost all the functionalities you want. It has a camera, GPS receiver as well as cell phone and PDA capabilities. It also incorporates blue tooth 2.0, but it is too wide and heavy measuring 62 x 119 x 23 mm and weighs 191g. It is relatively a heavy handset but feels nice in ones hand.

The Eten G500 comes with a big 3 inch (320 x 240) TFT touch screen with 65K colors display, looks like a small computer. The benefit of touch screen is that, you don't need to press the keys for dial a number, send SMS, E-mail and control various menus. It has most popular Handwriting recognition that has the capacity to convert handwriting into plain text. Apart from fantastic 192-channels Polyphonic ring tones it can also play your favorite songs with Windows MPlayer 10 that comes with the phone. Vibration alert is also available with this phone.

If you are on tour and want to capture some special moments and you forget to take camera, don't worry, Eten G500 has in-built 1.3 mega pixel camera with auto flash that will captures both still images and high quality videos with sound. With 1.3 mega pixel camera can captures up to 1280 x 960 pixels images, which is good for 4 x 6 inch prints.

Eten G500 supports for Quad-band GSM 850/ GSM 900/ GSM 1800/ GSM 1900 MHz as well as GPRS and a range of applications such as WAP, Email client, Java MIDP 2.0, voice commands, a voice recorder and FAX/Modem, SMS, EMS, MMS, Voice memo, Built-in hands free, wallpapers, screensaver, Pocket office, Alarm, Clock, Games, Calculator, Organizer, Currency converter, Call history and spacious phonebook. It comes with 64 MB of internal memory to store plenty of songs, wallpapers, ring tones and videos.

Powered by a Li-Ion 1440 mAh rechargeable battery the Eten G500 is heavy and doesn't include Wi-Fi or EDGE support. Also, it doesn't come with navigation software, so you can't use the GPS functionality out of the box. And the reception is really bad.
