Stolen Cell Phone Protection

Stolen Cell Phone Protection is not an issue today, because many technologies and softwares are available for the same purpose.

Today, cell phones are becoming a soft target for thieves, because mobile phone is a small, easily saleable instrument.

There is always a 15 digit code for each mobile phone. This number is unique to each cell phone. This 15 digit code is called, serial number of that cell phone. To view the serial number of the mobile phone, one will have to press * # 0 6 #. One should store his/her mobile’s serial number at safe place.

Now, if your cell phone is stolen, you can immediately contact to your service provider and give your cell phone’s 15 digit serial number to him. Once you give the serial number of your cell phone service provider will immediately block your phone. Hence, cell phones would not work even if the thief changes the SIM card. In this case, you might not get your mobile phone back, but whoever has stolen it, can not use that mobile phone.

With increasing cell phone thefts, efforts are made by few companies to give anti-theft features to cell phones. Sometimes, it is possible to give the Protection to Stolen Cell Phone by locating and disabling it. Softwares are available, which helps in protecting cell phone’s information.
Few of them are listed below:

Accu Tracking: Accu Tracking is a cheap, GPS Tracking Service. In Accu Tracking, user needs to download the software, prior to its loss.

SunSat Satellite, World Tracker is the same kind of softwares used for the Protection of Stolen Cell Phones.

VTT: This software, itself is the sensor system, enabling it to determine the owner. Also it determines the owner by his/her voice and walking style. When walk pattern or vocal pitch is changed, it asks the user to enter password.

RIM Holster Sensor: The main concept of this software is that both cell phone and hostler should be with each other, incase any one apart, the phone automatically recognizes this and ask the user to enter password. In this way it gives the Protection to Stolen Cell Phone.

NTT DoCoMo: It is very good software for Stolen Cell Phone Protection. User will have to install this software, obviously prior to its loss. When cell phone is stolen, one can easily find it through locating it on map, on website.

PhoneBak: One more option for Protection of Stolen Cell Phones is, Phone Bak. This software constantly checks the SIM card of the cell phone and when the SIM card is swapped, it sends SMS to predefined numbers with contact number of thief.

It is said that “Prevention is better than Cure”. Instead of giving Protection to Stolen Cell Phone, one should take preventive steps for cell phone protection. You should keep mobile phone attached to your body by any means. One should always put the mobile phones in lock compartment like purse. Avoid storing the information which is very important to you. Always remember the information which you have stored in your mobile phone.

Mobile Phone Fact !
Ever wondered why Mobile phone companies have not let this secret out of the bag?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following on your phone: star-hash-zero-six-hash as (* # 0 6 #)

A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. (the serial no.) This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.

Should your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the Sim card your phone will be totally useless.

You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it, can't use /sell it either. Serves the crook right

If everybody did this, there would be no point in stealing mobile phones.
